about Gimena Mazzetti
Registered Yoga Alliance Instructor
E-RYT 500, YACEP
I am an Argentinian native but I have lived in the Greater Seattle area since 2003. My husband and I are proud parents of two beautiful girls and a dog. I am passionate about healthy living and nutrition. I believe that human bodies were made to move, and that is what I do all the time! I am an enthusiastic yogini, skier, paddle boarder and hiker! I truly believe in the physical and spiritual benefits of a consistent yoga practice. A few years ago, I had a skiing accident and I needed reconstructive knee surgery; a daily and consistent yoga practice was a critical factor in my complete rehabilitation.
Everyone can do Yoga!
I believe that everybody, regardless of age, physical abilities and body type can find immense inner peace, health and fitness in a consistent yoga practice. I feel honored and privileged to guide other people to experience the benefits of this amazing ancient discipline, achieve their fitness goals and ultimately, live a more peaceful and soulful life.
When you attend one of my yoga classes, you are challenged to give the best of yourself physically while exploring several mindfulness and spiritual concepts. I teach creative, well-rounded and intelligently sequenced classes that are invigorating with a rhythmic flow and a focus on precise alignment and technique. In all my classes, I incorporate strengthening and mobility drills to improve your range of motion safely. I am adept at catering to different levels and abilities, ensuring that all students feel welcome and at ease. I love to play music during my classes, including lots of Argentinian tangos!
I have led many workshops and yoga retreats and I am also a guest trainer in two Yoga Teacher Training programs in the greater Seattle area. I am thrilled to share my passion for yoga with all of you!
I am a Student of Yoga first..
...an instructor second. Yoga learning never ends. I can only give the best to my students and my own practice if I continue to learn every day. I believe that learning from a variety of experienced teachers, lineages and sources is the best way to encourage critical thinking and find my own authentic yoga path.
I completed my initial 200-hour certification at HYE with Piper Sandifer, an amazing local teacher who empowered me and made me fall in love with yoga and the art of teaching. I completed 500-hour advanced yoga studies with Jason Crandell, a senior teacher based in San Francisco, CA, who has an Ashtanga and Iyengar background and a focus on anatomy, intelligent sequencing and injury management and prevention in yoga. I added an additional 300 hours of advanced yoga studies with Michelle Young in Austin, TX which expanded my knowledge on adaptive and restorative yoga, yin yoga, yoga nidra, meditation and trauma-informed yoga. I am currently undergoing advanced studies in yoga history and philosophy with a cohort of yoga scholars. Yes, I am a passionate student of yoga!
